Funding Inpatient Addiction Treatment at EHN Sandstone

Funding private addiction or mental health treatment can seem overwhelming. However, even those experiencing financial limitations or insufficient insurance coverage still have a number of different payment options available to support their treatment needs.

EHN Sandstone strongly believes our patients’ addiction treatment should be covered through government assistance or insurance, and we look forward to the day when this is the case. While Calgary’s municipal government has recently committed significant funding to the mental health and addiction needs of its citizens, the reality is the need is much greater and thousands of Calgarians will still go without life-saving addictions treatment. In the meantime, we are dedicated to helping Albertans and beyond get quick access to the resources they need.

The inpatient programs offered at EHN Sandstone vary in cost, depending on the level of care needed. Please contact our admissions team at 587-350-6818 for detailed information on the available programs and fee structures.

Funding options for treatment programs at EHN Sandstone include the following:

1. Personal Savings Account

If personal circumstances allow, a savings account can be used to pay for treatment at EHN Sandstone. This is the most straightforward form of payment and will help patients or those supporting them to avoid additional fees like interest that can accumulate through credit cards or bank loans

2. Healthcare Credit Card

If personal savings aren’t an option, some credit card companies offer specialized healthcare cards with lower interest rates than standard credit cards. This allows for the price of treatment to be funded and then paid off through instalments over time, alleviating some of the immediate financial pressure. Reach out to your financial institution of choice to learn about the healthcare credit cards available to you.

3. Workplace Benefits or Insurance

More and more insurance companies are covering the cost of addiction treatment. Depending on coverage and province of residence, some or all treatment costs may be covered. Some patients may be required to pay for the cost of treatment up front and then submit receipts for reimbursement. Our admissions counsellors are very familiar with this process and will provide appropriate documentation as requested.

4. Medicard or Paybright Plans

EHN Canada has partnered with Medicard and PayBright to offer our patients specialized loan packages that make it easier to pay for the treatment programs they require. These options may offer lower interest rates than most credit cards and healthcare cards, and in some cases, patients, family members and friends can each take out a loan and combine them together to fund a treatment program.

5. Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding websites such as GoFundMe can be used to create campaigns to raise money for addictions treatment. Depending on a patient’s level of comfort, these links can be shared privately among close friends, family and loved ones, or publicly to reach as many supportive community members as possible.

6. Home Equity Loans

For homeowners, a home equity loan can be obtained by offering the home as collateral. Home equity loans are beneficial as they have lower interest rates than personal loans.

Whichever funding route is chosen, remember that receiving effective treatment and starting the recovery journey is the most important investment a person could ever make. Contact our admissions team at 1-800-683-0111 to discuss options in funding addictions treatment for yourself or a loved one, they are standing by and happy to support you.
